hello everyone! im having a headache with clarion 6.3 that im sure many had before. However no matter how much i search i could not find the answer yet! I install clarion 6.3 on a new computer with xp sp2 and even compiling an example application it crash completely during the making of obj. Actually i found someone else who had exactly my same problem, but couldnt find a solution. You can read about it here : http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Comp/comp.lang.clarion/2007-03/msg00013.html
Anyone have a solution? I guess many run thru this problem as my installation is pretty basic and standard! And its doing the same that i install 6.0 or 6.3 9056.
Thanks for very needed help!

If you installed from CD, then you need to reboot.

Giu,
In defense of Russ, you're not giving us much to work with. For instance, did you have Clarion 6.3 running on another computer before you installed it on your new machine? What's the error message?
We've been using Clarion since the DOS days and have 5, 6, and the .NET beta running on a total of seven different machines, three equipped with Vista, the rest with XP. The only computer that has ever given us the kind of problem you describe is a Dell XPS (Core 2 Quad) with Vista Premium and SP1. Clarion did install and will compile, but then won't link our handwritten Morning Flight applications. FYI, they're all stand-alone exe files, close to 300,000 lines of code, no DLLs.
What's puzzling is that the linker problem goes away when we switch to an HP Pavillion, running Vista "Home" Premium without SP1.

hi..i not want to sound offensive really any help is appreciated, just dont tell me to reboot the machine its a bit too much?:)
Anyway the machine is a sony vaio tz31 with 2 gb ram and intel core duo cpu.Actually im notice its the same kind of processor of the post i write above, is there any know problems between clarion and core duo?
The installation come from original clarion 6 cd. If i try make a simple application from clarion 6.0 it hangs while compiling, without any error, after one or two modules. If i install the upgrade to 6.3 9055 instead, it just exit clarion instantly without any readable message, always while compiling. Maybe its a problem with the processor?
The windows its absolutely standard and new installation..and i already try everything that common sense suggest me, like turn off antivirus or different application or things like that! If anyone have a clue just tell me.....

thanks everyone, i find out by myself. It was the fingerprint detector. Actually another user on a newsgroup suggested me it could be that, but without giving any reason. Anyone have idea why it can interfere with clarion? My fingerprint was QL suite protector.

To be honest, yes. Since the install puts a new entry into WIN.INI that you must have. If the system can't find it, the Clarion system can behave erratic.
It is the only thing I could come up with based on so little data you provided. You must remember when you post, others reading them cannot see your monitor. ;-)
